Line of Duty Confirmed for 7th Season on the British Broadcaster
The acclaimed police drama AC-12 will make a comeback for its 7th season, announced by the broadcaster.
An upcoming six-episode season written by the show's creator starts production in Belfast in the coming months, as confirmed by the network.
Vicky McClure expressed excitement about the comeback, saying she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together soon."
The previous series wrapped up in recent years with a finale that attracted over 17 million viewers. Speculation about a new season have been widespread ever since, but official word only came this week.
Fresh Obstacles for AC-12
The seventh season will open with the anti-corruption unit having been disbanded and renamed as the new police oversight body, according to the announcement.
Martin Compston's character, Kate Fleming, and Ted Hastings remain tasked to tackle corruption within the law enforcement.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and in this climate, the trio will take on their "most sensitive case to date."
New Character and Intricate Plot
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charismatic officer known for busts of criminal networks, faces allegations of misusing his authority to act as a offender.

Broadcasters haven't revealed exactly the upcoming series will premiere.
The conclusion of series six drew the extended plot about the search for criminal mastermind known as "the mysterious H" to a conclusion, and producers indicated at the time there were no plans for additional seasons.
However, the network announced on this week that a seventh series is now in development.
