Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
