Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
